Our work with Develop Outdoors CIC

At Le Petit Vélo, we believe a café can be so much more than just coffee and waffles. It can be a place where people connect, learn, and grow. That’s why we’re proud to work with Develop Outdoors CIC, a local community organisation dedicated to helping young people build confidence and practical skills through hands-on learning.

Develop Outdoors CIC use the cafe as a training venue Monday - Wednesday each week, which is why we are generally closed to the public Monday - Wednesday.

Training the Next Generation

Together with Develop Outdoors, we deliver barista and hospitality training programmes right here at Le Petit Vélo. Our café becomes a real-world learning environment, where young people aged 14–16 gain valuable experience in:

  • Making barista-style coffees and other café drinks

  • Preparing food safely and confidently

  • Delivering excellent customer service

  • Working as part of a team in a real café setting

These sessions are designed for small groups, ensuring each learner gets plenty of personal attention and hands-on practice.

Programmes We Deliver

We currently host several vocational programmes, delivered in collaboration with Develop Outdoors CIC, creating a bridge between education and real-world experience.

Why It Matters

We’re passionate about supporting young people to build confidence, gain practical skills, and take their first steps toward independence.

By offering our café as a training space, we’re proud to play a small part in creating opportunities that make a difference in our community.
